Founding member

Bio: Born in Tbilisi, brought up in Istanbul and Moscow. In 2012 was awarded the Bachelor of Science from American University for Humanities, in 2013 obtained MA in European Studies from the University of Maastricht.

Work experience: The Georgian Journal (Political columnist, 2008-2010), Transparency International Georgia (Parliamentary Assistant, 2010-2011, Information Officer in 2012) and European Partnership for Democracy in Bruxelles (Communication and Programmes). Rejoined Transparency International Georgia as Civic Engagement Coordinator in April 2014, and as Senior Analyst since December 2015.

Bio: Born and raised in Kiev, Ukraine. Obtained Bachelor Degree in Political Science at the National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” in 2011. In 2014, graduated with a Master European Studies from Maastricht University. Worked as an intern at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (Vienna Office). Currently, work as a Project Manager at CFC Consulting in Kyiv

Fields of interest: international relations, globalization, development, human rights, democratization, migration, transnational organized crime. Putting a great value on critical approach, I would like to contribute to this project by presenting my analysis and view on international affairs and Ukraine in particular.

Background: In 2012 was awarded Bachelor of Laws degree from European Humanities University (Vilnius, Lithuania), then the MA in European Studies at the University of Maastricht and the LL.M. degree in International Development Law and Human Rights at the University of Warwick.

My spheres of interest are international relations, development, human rights, and politics of power, justice, truth and identity. A leftie politically, I am advocating for a critical reassessment of political and socio-economic options available to Eastern European countries.

Bio: Born and raised in Ukraine, but lived for quite a while in Europe and USA. Obtained Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Political Science form National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”, Kyiv, Ukraive. Currently enrolled at Maastricht University in the Netherlands, pursuing Master’s degree in European Studies.

Venues of interest: security and defense studies, human rights and global governance, democratization processes and transition of post-Soviet states, ENP. I seek to analyze and present position of Ukraine in the globalizing world and in comparative perspective with other post-Soviet countries.

Bio: Born and brought up in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine. In 2013, completed Master of Arts in European Studies on Society, Science and Technology at Maastricht University, the Netherlands. After coming back to Ukraine, became one of the initiators of e-Narod, the first electronic democracy project in the country. Having served as a project coordinator for half a year, went to Estonia to pursue Master of Science in e-Governance Technologies and Services.  During his time as a project development manager at Beyond the EU, Ievgen implemented growth strategy for the early stage of project development. Right now, external advisor for the project.

Areas of interest: innovation management; e-Governance; transitional processes in post-Soviet countries. My analytical contribution consists of materials about innovations and society-and-technology-related issues in Ukraine.

Sviatoslav Sviatnenko

Advisor (since June 2015)

Bio: Sviatoslav graduated from Maastricht University (MA in European Studies) and National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” (Bachelor Programme in Sociology).  In addition, he undertook a short-term study programme in Media, Society and Culture at University of Graz, Austria. Moreover, Sviatoslav has wide experience in the field of media, social and market research and management. Last year Sviatoslav worked as data analyst within the Canadian Election Observation Mission to Ukraine (twice), and has just recently ended his research assistantship at Maastricht University. Sviatoslav also published a number of academic papers on Ukraine including the comparative research on values of Euromaidan protesters, Ukrainians and the EU citizens in an international peer-review journal Social, Health and Communication Studies.

Currently, Sviatoslav is a Director of Business Development at Borsch Ventures located in Kyiv. In his free time (if hardly any) he consults pro bono a number of civic initiatives and remains an active blogger on Ukraine.

Venues of interest: Post-Soviet Studies, social transformations, identity and values, social movements, European studies, international relations and global affairs.


Alexander Glienicke

Bio: Born in Stuttgart, Alexander is currently enrolled in the Master’s program of European Studies at Maastricht University, the Netherlands. In 2014, he obtained the Bachelor’s Degree in the same program. Alexander’s main research focus lies on the European Union and African Union affairs and international development. As a member of this project, Alexander assists in the day-to-day procedures of publishing contributions and communication.

Venues of interest: development, global affairs, external relations, and foreign policy.
